Sesam

Sesame is one of the oldest known cereals. Already 3000 years ago it was grown in the Middle East, from where it spread to the second millennium to India. Early civilizations of the Orient as well as Greeks and Romans used sesame oil or as a spice. Today, the sesame plant is cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas.

Sesame has a delicate, nutty flavor and one of the highest proportions of all known oil seeds. The seeds of herbaceous plant consist of one-fifth of protein, and 50 percent of every seed is fat – the majority of them do unsaturated fatty acids. In addition, sesame contains a lot of selenium, an essential trace element that stimulates the metabolism and immune system support.
